She folded her hands, seeming to calm ever so little and said quite articulately with biting;
“Anonymous I have a child to care for. To see that it does not come to harm. I did not enter a relationship expecting to care for another. I expected a man. We were not promised to each other so it is not my responsibility to chase him and constantly be fighting for him. I am NOT that short of pride!”
She took a long indrawn breath and continued.
“Thus far I have taken care of our child - alone. When it was threatened I acted. He did not. I understand he has been under some emotional turmoil - I can sense that much and I gave him the space he needed because I did not think he wanted to speak on it. I know he is a private person and in taking this vacation to give him some time to heal, my absence along with that of his child has apparently left him unconcerned and bored. So you tell me he is wandering and I find myself…little in caring as well. As politely as I can say that and still with hold my dignity as Lady. He said I must prove myself to him in one of our last discussions and I demanded equal measure - and he has proven that he is nothing but an irresponsible, uncommunicative, selfish partner. The only thing he has yet to do apparently is actually lie with a woman, am I correct? Paying her attentions whilst he ignores me?”
She stopped, taking another few breaths to massage her temples and calm her temper for the sake of the baby.
“You say I am not myself….well! To be completely honest he is neither the man I was drawn to. He has become weaker in my eyes. If he lies with this woman before I return and ssspeak with him….”
Her eyes darkened suddenly hissing as she squeezed the arm of the chair she sat in, crushing it beneath her fist.
“He will be no better than that God who betrayed me first.”
With that final snap all of the candles blew out with a small expel of magic that escaped with her harsh words and she pulled her wrap around her shoulders - returning to bed as she rubbed a soothing hand over her abdomen.
Her eyes narrowed even more, lips curling back with scorn.
“You do not know me. I will not be talked down to and you will leave. Now.”
“He cares little,” she repeated flatly.
A thin lipped smile spread, tight and edgy with a flash of something behind her eyes while her pupils dilated to thin slits. She rose to sit up a full intimidating height with a hard, unblinking stare that bore into the faceless creature with icy contempt.
“You come to inform me of something you do not believe I already know? I have been gone for weeks and received not a letter or word but his sssilence.”
What kind of blind innocent do you take me for?
Her lips twitched at the left hand corner, with a cool reply.
“Its spelled wandering not wondering.”
She looked up from her magazine, stretched out relaxing under the curtain of night sky, shadows flickering across her face from the moving light of flame lit in surrounding candles. Slowly her brows creased enough for the anon to know she was irritated. This was her vacation.
